About Life in Amed

Welcome to the Life in Amed Boutique Hotel, our hotel is found in the Village of Lean in Amed in the region of Karangasem in East Bali. One of the most beautiful and unspoilt areas on the island, far from the crowds and tourism of Kuta, but only 3 hours from the airport. A scenic route through rice fields and villages, the shadow of Mount Agung and King's palaces you will come the dramatic coastine of Amed. Best known for it's shipwrecks and deep sea diving, snorkling and fishing trips, or a place to relax and soak up the sun and enjoy Balinese Village life. Welcome to Life in Amed We are located in the Fishing Village of Lean, each morning before sunrise the local fisherman leave on their Jukung boats to catch mackerel in the Lombok Straights, one of the deepest seas in the world. The fisherman usually return around 7.30 am in the morning, which is lovely to watch from the beach. It is a family affair so the women and children gather to collect the fish and take it to the road, where it is then picked up to be taken to the city for export. From the beach in front of "Life in Amed" it is easy to snorkel and see many colourful fish and large coral formations. You can see Angelfish, Bannerfish, Giant Wrasse and Orange-lined Triggerfish. There are many places to snorkel in Amed, take a trip on a jukung boat to the Japanese Shipwreck, Jemeluk, a fishing trip or to watch the sunset. It is easy to snorkel from the most of the local beaches and for the learning or experienced diver there are many beautiful dives in the area, the most famous at Tulamben, the SS Liberty an American Warship sunk by the Japanese in 1942. If you enjoy walking in the morning or late afternoon, take a left from the hotel and you'll see village life and beautiful views for the cliffs. Hikers can go up and over the mountain with a local guide. On the motorbike it is easy to go over the mountain to Bangli Village where they have five Holy springs with different tasting water, rice terraces and tapioca drying on the rocks. There are many places of interest to visit while you stay in Amed, the local production of the sea salt, Tirtagangga & Ujung Waterpalaces, Amlapura market, the Bali Aga Village of Tenganan, the White Dragon Temple of Lempuyang and Besakih, the Mother Temple of Bali. You may like to just relax and enjoy our Body care services, a refreshing Back massage or facial treatment. Also the local women provide a Traditional Massage by request.

Ocean View Cottages Six cottages with Balinese & modern design, each with kingsize bed, fine linens and furniture. Upstairs has relaxing area with additional twin beds and views of the fishing boats and ocean. Stargazing is allowed in the natural stone bathroom.

Sari Sunrise Beachfront Villa The perfect villa for a romantic getaway, this two level villa has spectaculer sunrise views from your four poster bed. The lower level looks onto the jukung boats resting on the sandy beach. There are two twin beds for extra guests or push together to make a luxurious daybed to lounge and listen to the waves. Sari Sunrise villa has two en suite bathrooms, one on each level made with natural stone ideal for bathing under the moonlight. Paradiso Beachfront Villa The ideal retreat for family and friends, downstairs has a living room facing the ocean and beach. Behind the ornate carved doors lies a private bedroom with a four poster bed . Also on this level is a large bathing area with outside shower and bathtub. The upper level is a loft style bedroom with sunrise and panoramic ocean views from your four poster bed and comfortable sitting area.

Paradiso Beachfront Villa The ideal retreat for family and friends, downstairs has a living room facing the ocean and beach. Behind the ornate carved doors lies a private bedroom with a four poster bed . Also on this level is a large bathing area with outside shower and bathtub. The upper level is a loft style bedroom with sunrise and panoramic ocean views from your four poster bed and comfortable sitting area.

Restaurant Our restaurant served a selection of Balinese and European dishes. We can arrange Balinese feasts for your celebrations, with fresh barbecued fish, suckling pig and traditional local food.
