It is a genuine pleasure and honour for me to recommend Gede Negara, travel agent and tourist guide in Kuta, Bali . I have known Gede since my first trip to Indonesia in 1999. I was conducting a graduate research project on the island of Bali and was looking for a person who could help me to understand the culture and history of Bali . In the weeks that followed, Gede assisted me by showing me around, translating and explaining everything I needed to know. Since 1999 I travelled regularly to Bali and Gede became an important person, who arranged all my accommondation, transport and appointments.
After the bomb blast of October 2002, I decided to establish a non-governmental organisation, the Bali 's Future Foundation, to help all the Balinese that had become dear to me. With his positive attitude Gede became a true inspiration to me and my team. Even though he had a lot on his mind with a business to run and no customers coming. Gede spent a lot of time and energy to assist me in organising a cultural event on Kuta Beach and a conference of the main Balinese organisations to discuss the future of sustainable tourism in Bali . Gede helped me to contact all the right people to conclude the project succesfully.
Gede is a very intelligent, modest, polite and sensitive person. It is an honour for me that I had the opportunity to work with him, but also to now call him a dear friend. I have travelled around the world a lot and have met many tour guides along the way, but I have never met one guide as friendly, sincere and competent as Gede. He takes his job very seriously and knows much more about Bali than the avarage guide. Gede knows how to adapt to customers' wishes and will always give customers a feeling of satisfaction and a special memory of Bali . I am sure that after meeting Gede you will recommend him to your family and friends when they travel to Bali .
